Forest Walks Lodge
Meals
Deloraine forms the centre of a rich agricultural district and increasingly local farmers
are turning to specialty crops to diversify their incomes. Forest Walks Lodge obtains the
raw ingredients for its meals from these sources where possible. As well as being fresh,
this also reduces the food miles on our meals.
Local cheesmakers Asgrove and Elgar Farms provide a variety of cheeses, milk and yoghurt.
Other foods are sourced from a local traditional smallgoods maker and salmon and ginsing
producer 40degree South. Free range eggs and organic meats come from the neighbours at High
Marsh. Fresh fruit and vegetables, much of it organic, come
from the valley and increasingly our own garden and orchard.
Many of our dishes feature fresh Tasmanian fish. We have access to local venison, organic lamb, fresh wasabi and truffles.
For a special occasion birthday or anniversary we can cook almost anything you would like, as long as it is local, including crayfish in season.
